In his work, Dominique Barreau approaches the big subject of weapons of war with the fascination of a child, the same child which lives within us all. Sometimes haunted by war, sometimes attracted by it, the paradox has become far too common for us all. We watch violence and play violent video games, and in doing so we are often taking pleasure without guilt. However, at the same time almost all of us would unanimously condemn the reality of war. We would feel revolted by witnessing the atrocities of war in the flesh.

Barreau's subtle method of using ladies lipstick as a medium with which to draw different machines of war accentuates such an ambiguity by trying to seduce the spectator with allusions to glamour and to feminine softness.
