Finish environmental artists Kaarina Kaikkonen’s site specific installations on suspend second hand shirts above roadways and inside warehouse spaces. Her latest work, Are We Still Going On? at Reggio Emilia’s Collezione Maramotti involves hundreds of children’s shrifts hung in rows, meant to resemble the interior hull of a giant ship.
Alongside the monumental features of her works – always strongly imbued with the environmental and architectural elements surrounding them – there is also a core linked to the impermanence and frailty of materials somewhat pointing back to the frailty of human beings.
