The legendary designer’s works from 1955 for Balmain, Patou, Fendi, Chloé and Chanel will be displayed as a mega retrospective exhibition in his home country.
No doubt that Karl Lagerfeld is the most renowned and outstanding figure in the fashion industry for more than 60 years. There can be few designers in the fashion history who have as much in the archive as Karl has. Considering the fact that he is the head of ‘Chanel Fashion Empire’ for 32 years, and plus 50 years with Fendi, it can be inferred that such kind of a mega exhibition should have been held much earlier.
The exhibit curated by friend and collaborator Amanda Harleck and Rein Wolfs, starting with the yellow coat he designed in 1954, includes 126 pieces of clothing in addition to the accessories and illustrations by Karl himself. The mega exhibit can be seen until 13th of September in the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany, in Bonn.
